The tsunamis became really very dangerous for the people who were living in or close to them. Many people have died because of that matter. Moreover, many people in these areas complain of the poor warning system and some areas in the ocean don’t have any warning alert at all. The problem of whether these tsunamis were caused by earthquakes or by nuclear tests is not obvious for many people. Furthermore, the huge problem for the people who are living in these areas is that their government that controls these countries didn’t do anything to solve this problem. The biggest issue is what if the countries that have power did these kinds of test or if they are still doing it. The media is giving the people who are living in these areas unsure warning because nobody knows where the waves are going to go, which caused the people who are living in these areas to be in a panic situation all the time. Eighteen months after of the tragic tsunami the countries that are hit by tsunami in the Indian Ocean are working finally as a team to improve their warning systems, supported by UNESCO. However, they didn’t try this new system in a real situation to determine the weak points and the good points. Moreover, many people think this new technology is not going to help people that much because they believe the warning system can’t reach people in advance, and also, the waves are moving so fast, according to Mr. Budi(2006). A lot of difficulties force people who are living in these areas like Indonesia, because they don’t have a good warning system, which means they are warning people way after the earthquake happens which was south of Indonesia, instead of warning them in advance, according to Mr. Budi (2006). The last results make a lot of people happy, for the final result that they can inform people in advance, according to Mr. Elliott (2006) Furthermore, many people are looking for better results to make sure this new system can be secure for people who are living in these areas, especially Indonesia, because a tsunami can hit so fast, and they are looking for faster results like five minutes or less, according to Mr. Elliott. Tsunami is not a new disaster in Indonesia, but the last one was a long time ago, in 1883, and there were a lot of people killed because of that. “Even if the warning had arrived before the waves, the country still didn’t have a system to pass on the warning to the public, according to Indonesian officials” (2006, par. 10).
The countries that have been hit by tsunami have to solve the problem of their poor alert warning systems by asking the countries that have power for help. However, even if these poor countries don’t ask the countries that have power, these countries should be generous and offer their help. Moreover, the people who are living in these poor countries should do something to make their governments solve their problems, because these problems are really serious and could cost their lives.
The scientists should find out whether the tsunamis are caused by the earthquakes or by nuclear tests, to help these poor countries to solve their problems. The reason is to find direction that can help the scientists and the people who are living in these areas to work in one direction, because you can solve any problem with determination.
If that is really true that the countries that have power did it, or they are still doing the nuclear tests in the ocean, we should stop them. The people who are living in these countries are the only people who can stop these governments because the governments for these poor countries can’t change anything; I mean they have that capacity to stop these countries from doing these kinds of tests.
Many countries have been started to develop their warning systems after eighteen months from the disaster. However, these countries got support from UNESCO, which is a good thing, but the problem is many of these countries that got these kinds of warning system do not have the capacity to use this technology in appropriate ways. For example, when they get a signal from the monitor they don’t reach people in a fast way, because they can’t afford it because it requires a lot of money to get this technology for alert warning. Furthermore, their media don’t reach everyone for some reasons, and also, these are poor countries and not everyone has a television. I think even if the people get the warning in advance, it’s not going to help some people in these poor countries much because they don’t have strong buildings. These countries have to work to develop many things to secure their people; for example, to warn the people as soon as they get a signal from the monitor even if it costs big money, because people’s lives are very important.
The last study tells us they can reach the people as soon as that find out about any earthquakes. Moreover, it tells that they can determine whether a tsunami is caused by earthquakes or by nuclear tests. This is good news, that they can protect people from these natural disasters, but sometimes human beings can not predict everything.
In my opinion the system seems to be of high technology, but I think these organizations in change of the people and how they react to the emergency alarms and procedures have to follow up to save their life. I think that some campaigns should be done to inform the inhabitants of this region about the way they have to act once they have heard the emergency alarm.
In conclusion, the governments of these poor countries have to solve their people’s problems and the governments that have power should offer their hand for these countries. Furthermore, as for the countries that have a power, if they are still doing these kinds of tests they have to stop them immediately. The best way that they can solve these kinds of problems is to develop their communication systems. I think the government should invest in technology to alarm people about natural disasters. It is true that the economic situation of these countries is sometimes an obstacle to preventing death caused by natural disaster, but I think it is worthy to make an investment to avoid this kind of events.
